All Powerful God

“Nothing is too big for my God to accomplish, and nothing is too little for Him to use in accomplishing it!” – Source Unknown

Scripture of the day: “There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.” – Isaiah 11:1-2

One of the oft-used attributes of God well-known to all Christians is His Omnipotence. The origin of the word Omnipotence is Latin, Omni Potens, meaning “all power” and it accurately describes the unlimited power of God. This exclusive attribute of God is often used casually in prayer, bible discussions, songs and exhortations but it appears that most Christians only have a mental assent to this one-of-a-kind characteristic of Jehovah. By power, we are not only referring to the authority and supremacy of God but also His nature that translates to physical might in the lives of people and things on earth.

The Greek language is richer than the English in distinguishing the kind of power that is being described in any particular circumstance. The two common Greek words translated as power in the English language are: “Dunamis” denoting miraculous power, might or strength; where we get our words dynamite and dynamic, and “Exousia” denoting authority from which we get the words execute and executive. God is not only the ultimate Executive in charge of the spiritual and natural realms but He also exhibits unlimited explosive power to dictate every affair in heaven, earth and even hell.

Our scripture reading for today lists attributes of the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Godhead, that Jesus Christ needed in order to fulfill His mission on earth. Seven attributes were mentioned namely: Lordship, Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Knowledge, Fear of the Lord and Might. The Spirit of Might is the quality of God that produces the “dunamis” or explosive power in all things pertaining to life and godliness on earth. Our God is a God of UNLIMITED DUNAMIS or MIRACULOUS POWER. There is inexhaustible power innate in Him to produce desired divine effects in all things that pertain to your life on earth.

The wonderful gift of salvation through the Name of Jesus brought you to a deeper relationship and fellowship with this God of infinite power. You have unfettered access to the corridors of ultimate power in the heavenly realm; don’t take it for granted. The all-powerful God is your Father, Lord and Master; and as the Psalmist said, “you shall not want.” Meditate on this until this revelation becomes entrenched in your soul and spirit.

Memory verse: “When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.” – Genesis 17:1
